Have you ever been to church? If so, you probably haven’t enjoyed it that much. However, members of the Jerry Johnston First Family Church (located in Kansas) often seem to report that worshipping sessions and the various events held are highly beneficial and even fun. The First Family Church (commonly abbreviated to FFC) is located in Overland Park, and is visited by hundreds or even thousands of people each day in Kansas. Regardless of who you are, it would be well worth walking over there some time or attending some of the various events they hold. You don’t even have to be a member to participate.

I know that the very last thing you need now is to get all stressed up with the diverse ways on how you can manage stress in your everyday life.

Therefore, the positive stress management methods presented here is not going to be any lengthy, difficult or new ways. Instead, its aim is to provide you with the long-familiar yet effective ways on how you can reduce or deal with stress in your daily lives.

What you will find here are not any “secrets” or new ways which you need to painstakingly take time and effort to learn to deal with stress. Rather, you will find the various methods listed down pretty familiar and reiterated.

The successful people do what the unsuccessful people don’t, not can’t!

If you realized, the success principles are actually very easy and familiar to all. However, only a minority of us cares to take the first step out to practicing them.

Thus, as you slowly go through the positive stress management approaches here, spend some time to ponder over the possible effects of them on your stress level. As simple as they may look, however, recognized that they are repeated over and over again for a reason, because they work!

The stress reduction management techniques will work, if you work them.

And without further ado, lets us move on to the 5 constantly reiterated positive stress management approaches:

1) Admit That Stress Is Necessary
Everything exists in this world for a reason, so is stress. In fact, when you get all stressed up, your body goes into the natural “fight or flight” response providing you with a sudden burst of energy, further enhancing your performance. Stress when managed and used wisely will be a great vehicle for you to achieve what you want in a much shorter time. Once in a while, we all need some push, don’t we?

2) Limit Your Association With Other Stress Bugs
Birds of the same feathers flock together. When you are stressed, quite automatically, you will want to find people who can understand, if not amplify your stress. Unless your intention is to boost the negative effects which stress has on you, the next best positive stress management technique for you is to limit your contact with other stress bugs.

3) Get Advice From The Best
More often than not, the route which you are walking on right now has already been travelled on by many before you. Do not be cut yourself short by learning from your own mistakes. Learn from the experts or people whom have been there, done that. Get their advice on how they keep themselves calm in times of crisis, their attitude in life, the type of self talk they have with themselves or what trainings they have went through. The smart people always learn from others’ experiences. Be one too!

This is probably one of the most effective positive stress management techniques in my opinion.

4) Learn To Breathe
The act of breathing may be our innate ability. However, what you may not recognize is that breathing is an art! In fact, you can easily and quickly calm yourself down should you practices good breathing habits. Breathe in and exhale slowly for a count of 7 through your diaphragm. Constantly repeat the 7 count breathing method. Personally, I find it more effective by chanting the words “Relax… Let Go… Enjoy life.”

5) Write Out Your Stress Triggers
Knowing what make you all stress up is one very important step in managing it. Different people get stressed up by different issues. Working hard on neutralizing the effects stress has on you should not be your long term solution. Understanding your stress triggers and hack them on the roots is what really works in helping you manage your stress in the long run.

As agreed upon earlier, the 5 positive stress management methods presented is not anything new or requires steep learning curve. Start by just choosing one of the above tested approaches, work on them and reap the benefits they bring to your present stressful life.

When holiday seasons quickly approach, you may find that you are preparing meals, wrapping presents, getting the house prepared for guest, trimming the tree and more. Holiday seasons used to be something that would feel like it would last forever now everything is so rushed that it feels like the seasons come and go so quickly. For some people, Christmas is not so memorable and they may become depressed and feel sad and alone.

Learning to deal with depression during the holiday season is very important for everyone. We all become over-stressed and the feeling of being overwhelmed can easily creep in and may ruin the entire holiday season with sadness. Use some meditation methods to learn to control stress.

If depression has become severe or you feel like you cannot gain control you may need to see your medical professional for treatment. There are some things that you can do at home to prevent depression during the holiday seasons in order to prevent yourself from becoming depressed. Holidays are special and for that reason you want to be able to enjoy every minute of it.

There are several reasons you might feel depressed and sad during the holidays; loss of a loved one, little or no money, the coldness, snow or rain, and more. Because the holiday’s makes you think back to a childhood moment around that time of year you may feel happy or sad if it is a sad memory. Depression is more common today than what it was years ago. That is because today doctors are more aware of the symptoms of depression and they also have more treatments available for those who suffer from depression. When someone experiences depression they may feel tired all the time, unable to participate in anything, overwhelmed with guilt for some reason, can cry at anything, and more. Because symptoms of depression are so common, it may also be mistaken for another disorder with similar symptoms.

To avoid becoming depressed during the holiday seasons you may want to try these tips that will encourage and inspire you.

* Bake cakes and cookies to give to a nursing home or a neighbor next door. Giving warms the heart and puts a smile on your face.

* Sing Christmas carols to get into the holiday mood.

* Visit friends or family. Make this something that you do every holiday season. You can visit one person a day or over a weekend, which ever fits into your schedule. Before you leave, give your friends or family a hug. Our bodies respond to a hug in a positive way and sometimes that is all we need to feel happy.

What ever you do during the holiday seasons, remember to stay positive. It’s okay to think about the past as long as you don’t let it get you down. Making sure that you have a positive attitude will rub off and have a positive affect on everyone’s holiday season. Because the holidays are filled with mixed emotion it will be nice to end the holiday season with a smile on your face.

Have you ever wondered why the family chose your home this year to celebrate the holidays? You still feel resentment toward someone and are expected to socialize with them during this time of the year? There’s not a lot of money left for buying the things needed for Christmas gifts! You are so rushed for time to prepare and working at a job while maintaining the house. The minutes are ticking away and you’re already tired. So many times you allow yourself to become stressed over small things and the stress just keeps multiplying instead of taking care of the small things one at a time.

Focusing on the meaning of the holiday season instead of all that is causing you to be so stressed can change your attitude into peace, joyfulness, harmony and relaxation. You can change your attitude and feelings of people taking advantage of you and your time. Instead you can turn things around, maybe not the situation but your attitude towards the situation. These stress management tips can be used at any time but during the holidays it seems to be more important.

Start by focusing on giving from your heart. We heal ourselves by giving to others, unconditionally and unselfishly. Family members may have chosen your home this year because they feel so comfortable at your house and love spending time with you and your family.

Resentment towards others only harms you. Seek forgiveness and understanding in your heart and the heavy burden that you and you alone carry, will greatly be lifted. The circumstance that caused your resentment has passed, now is the time for a new beginning. When you think of money as the main ingredient in giving a gift to another loved one, you miss the most important thing about giving and that is giving of yourself. You can be creative and think of what the person you want to give a gift too, really likes and spend hardly any money at all. If they like music, download and burn them a CD of their favorite songs, when they listen and enjoy the music, they will think of how thoughtful it was of you to give them so many moments of enjoyment. Buying a special card that has the words you would say to them from the heart with a personal letter from you, provides precious memories every time it is read thru the years.

You can be less tired if you find ways to relax and totally let go of the little things that are causing you to be so uptight and stressed. Chill out with bath time, favorite book or music, take a walk and really listen to the birds singing, the wind gently blowing through your hair, or the warmth of the sun on your face. Our attitude of happiness, peace, contentment, and happiness will make you more invigorated and energetic.

Picking up the phone and talking with someone you haven’t talked with in years and inviting them to celebrate the holidays with you and your family or just wishing them “Happy Holiday”, will make you feel better as well as the person you called.

Focus, change of attitude, and giving from the heart, unselfishly and unconditionally will help you with your personal growth and development of the holidays but most of all the rewards you will receive just by giving of yourself will be given back 3 times more than you gave.
